This is the second stage of the process. During this stage you explore those occupations that interest you and research industries where you would like to work. You should also learn about employment trends, salaries and required skills for different occupations you are interested in. To determine what occupations interest you the most you can job shadow, do volunteer work in an area of interest, look for part-time employment in a particular field and conduct informational interviews with professionals in fields which you think you would like to pursue a career in.
3. Decision making stage:
During this third phase of the process, you will have to make a final choice for a career based on criteria that you established from an earlier process. Once you have done that it is time to develop a concrete plan to reach your goal. The plan you come up with should have a certain amount of flexibility and include a backup option. Developing a plan will include identifying gaps in your qualifications and determining what training and education you need to fill them. It will also include developing a job search strategy.
4. Implement your plan:
The plan you developed can now be put into action. You will need to monitor your progress and may have to make slight altercations to your initial plan. This is to take into account any possible changes in requirements, occupational demand or anything else that may affect your plan.
