Well actually, architecture and geometry both blossomed at the same time when mimicry was a main characteristic of some builders. The mimicry of nature played an important role back then. Like the Pyramids of Giza for example looking like a mountain and comes from a simple triangular shape. Euclid a Greek mathematician was the first who wrote geometrical rules in 300 BCE. Later on, the existence of the Vitruvian man started to open the eyes on perfect proportions and shapes. ‘ For without symmetry and proportions no temple can have a regular plan.’ Vitruvius wrote pointing out that the symmetry and proportions of any element is taken from the human body. The presence of the golden ratio was also presented in everything around us from nature to human beings and more. From the Pyramids to the towers we see today, are all built based on the geometry of a human being or any other living thing. Some believers noted that when a geometrical principle is found and a building is built relying on it; here they are creating a comfortable dwelling space. ‘ Dull boxes are not friendly to humanity and I am trying to change some of that. ‘ said Frank Gehry. It should remain silent and let nature in the guise of sunlight and wind.’ As for me, i’ve noticed that if there is no geometry then there is no architecture and if there is no math, their would have been no geometry. So the link that is between all three of them have played a major role from ancient architecture until contemporary architecture and mathematics have been upgrading itself decade after decade and it have helped construction improve itself by helping buildings to stand up and to support the weights of heavy walls. The typical three shapes are the triangle, circle and square, carried from antiquity throughout history until our contemporary world today and from them come new and complex geometrical shape with the birth of new mathematic formulas in order to solve each and every issue faced during construction. Mathematics is mainly the hidden eye of architecture.
