Arthritis is one of the oldest known disease, whose treatment is not yet available and is mostly common in females than males. There are more than 100 forms of arthritis and the most common among this is osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, fibromyalgia and gout. Out of all of these kinds of arthritis, Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic disease which affects the lining of synovial joints causing premature death, disability, socioeconomic burdens and is resulted mainly due to the dysfunction of immune system. There are several factors which aggravate this conditions, for instance: injury, imbalanced immune system, bacterial infections, genetic makeup etc. there are two major types of arthritis positive subset ACPA (Anti-Citrunillated Protein Antibodies) and negative subset ACPA, out of these two subtypes positive subset ACPA has more aggressive clinical phenotype in comparison to negative subset of ACPA (Malmstrom et al, 2017). Also, in terms of treatment response as well the positive subset is more treatable as compared to the other. As already mentioned RA has no permanent cure, the current aim is to achieve low disease activity state, which is only achieved if rheumatologist monitor the disease activity continuously and accurately so as to adjust the treatment regimen accordingly. The medicine which are available in the market are anti-inflammatory, which reduces the clinical manifestations like redness, swelling and limited range of motion. There are two types of anti-inflammatory drugs used in the market: corticosteroids and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID), which causes gastric lesions and is not successful to a wide range of consumers. A study gathered by Myllykangas et al, 1995 states the fatalities caused by the use of anti-rheumatoid drugs. In his study, 1666 subjects were studied who died in Finland, out of which thirty seven deaths were caused due to use of NSAID drugs because of peptic ulcers, renal failure, bone marrow depression and perforation of lower intestinal tract. Also, drugs research is extensive as well as expensive, this draws attention to have a research on plant based medicine which are used in tradition medicine as they are cheap with minimal side effects.
