People have been traveling from country to country since distant times. Nation has crossed the seven seas thirteen rivers in order to see the world. People have reached the unknown country by sea. The tourism industry in Bangladesh has risen from the desire of people to travel to the world. With the development of civilization, the nature of tourism has happened sudden changes in nature. Tourism is now a global hobby and addiction, not just for a person or a small group, but for the whole human group. And so tourism is now an industry, which is a key element of many countries’ economies. Already the industry place as one of the fastest-growing sectors worldwide. Tourism is a view and activity altogether. The view for tourism is unproductive and its activities are largely passing and temporary. According to the Association of International Experts in Scientific tourism, “Tourism is the sum of the relationships between individuals who are not involved in any earning and do not settle and who create from somewhere”.Various natural, historical and cultural sites including Sundarbans, Sonargaon, Cox’s Bazar, Kaptai, Kuakata, Rangamati, Moynamoti, Paharpur in Bangladesh are rich enough to attract the attention of domestic and foreign tourists. Therefore, since aged times many wise foreign tourists have been fascinated by the foot of Bengal.

There are different tribes in different regions of Bangladesh. Like Chakma, Marma, Mug, Saotal, Garo Kuki, Manipuri, Khasia, etc. Their eccentric clothing, way of life, and colorful culture resonate at the heart. Despite such potential, tourism Bangladesh, like other countries, has not yet fully developed as an industry. But the tourism industry can play an important role in the poverty relief and socio-economic development of the country.

The Context of the Development of Bangladesh :

Bangladesh has set a wonderful example of hospitality and similarity since ancient times. But even though there are many materials to attract tourists, in the past there was virtually no rule for this. After independence, a special feature was placed on tourism and a national tourism organization called Bangladesh Tourism Corporation was formed on January 1, 1973, for its rise and development.

It is given with the duty of conducting all kinds of activities necessary for the development of tourism of the country and the company begins to undertake new projects and execution. Tourism Corporation also undertakes the work of enhancing Bangladesh’s image abroad by highlighting the natural beauty, history, and culture of Bangladesh to grip foreign tourists.

The importance of Tourism in Bangladesh Economy:

Bangladesh is earning a useful amount of foreign exchange through the tourism industry. But the income of other neighboring developing countries is many times higher than that of Bangladesh. Among the SAARC countries, India earns the most from the tourism industry. Therefore, Bangladesh’s tourism industry also use for economic development, many more foreign tourists will be attracted.

Problems of the Bangladesh Tourism industry:

Bangladesh’s tourism industry is in crisis due to multi-forked problems. The tourism industry is not developing as there is no specific and compact step to increase foreign exchange earnings and produce employment through the tourism industry in this land of natural beauty. The national policy on tourism announce in 1992 is not implemented.
