In the span of 15 years within Australia, the national governors have failed to reverse the severe effects of climate change, and as a result of these careless actions Australia begins to wither away. Australians are killing themselves; Australia needs to take responsibility and take the necessary actions to combat the climate issues we are now facing, but what is Australia doing about it, building coal mines and killing the earth. As a result of these actions Australia has experienced wild fires, droughts and their biggest tourist attraction is dying. Honestly, just how long will it take for Australia to see they are running themselves into extinction.

Since the Adani Coal Mine was constructed Australia has already doomed themselves. According to Governance and operation of the Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility (NAIF), “The Adani Carmichael mine will significantly increase Australia’s contribution to international carbon emissions.” And with that, Australia is not up holding it’s commitment to the Paris Climate Agreement, which states that “Australia has pledged to cut emissions by 26% on 2005 levels by 2030.” (Adani mine: Australia approves controversial coal project, 2019) because Australia signed for the Adani mine to be built how are they meant to stay true to this agreement. It was said that over 4.7 billion tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions will be produced from the mine, this is more than ½ of the remaining global budget for reducing the climate warming to 2 degrees Celsius (Carmichael Coal (“Adani”) Mine Cases in Queensland courts, 2017). Not only this, but since the mine was built many other aspects of Australia have been effected, such as the Great Barrier Reef. Currently 93% of The Great Barrier Reef (GBR) has been subjected to coral bleaching (Kahn, 20016), the GBR is one of Australia’s biggest tourist attraction and source of income, and yet they are destroying it. Unless drastic action is taken to slash greenhouse gas emissions emitting from the Adani mine Australia is done for.

Due to the increase on global warming, Australia have been severely impacted by raging bush fires. According to climatechange.org, “…scientists have warned that climate change would increase the risk of extreme bushfires in Australia. This warning was accurate. Scientists expect extreme fire weather will continue to become more frequent and severe without substantial and rapid action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions (THE FACTS ABOUT BUSHFIRES AND CLIMATE CHANGE, 2019).” This evidence strongly suggests that the fires have worsened, due to the increase in greenhouse gas emissions as a result of the Adani mine, and with the recent 2019-2020 fires that burned over 18,636,079 hectares and killed over 1 billion animals, excluding invertebrates/bates (Duncombe, 2020), this news should not be taken lightly and immediate action needs to be taken in order to try and irradiate another disaster .If Australia hadn’t have been so careless and listened to what was Infront of them it’s land, animal and people would not have been as horribly impacted as they were.

By now Australia has to have found a simple solution to their problems by now, at least you would think, but apparently not. So here’s one for Australia, and it’s called solar energy. Solar energy is an amazing alternative to coal mines, not only with it reduce the greenhouse gas emissions coming from that stupid coal mine, this will significantly reduce the chance of wild fires. Australia is one of the sunniest continents in the world, and yet they are not utilizing the opportunity to use solar panels. Solar energy is such an effective and efficient way to create energy, and even if Australia was concerned about the cost of solar panels for solar energy they needn’t worry because as a matter of fact fossil fuel options are more expensive, well according to Sunrun (Zeledon, 2019). Not only that but unlike coal mines used to produce energy from fossil fuels, solar energy is completely clean, they produce no greenhouse gas emissions like fossil plants do and the energy is renewable. It would seem quite unreasonable for Australia to not snatch up this offer for improvement, but apparently not.

Just how stubborn is Australia going to be before they see just how much they have damaged and mutilated their country. They’ve already destroyed all of the Great Barrier Reef, increased the occurrence of the their already horrendous fires, you would think it ends there but no they’ve not only single handily burned their country to the ground they’ve striped it of all its moisture. Australia needs to take immediate action in order to combat and reverse their effects on their country before it’s too late. At this rate Australia has already run its self into the ground.
