So many people in the world today live under absolute evil, corrupt countries that create dreadful living conditions and quality of life. Although the country of Sierra Leone as a whole has suffered detrimental setbacks in the political economy system due to civil warfare, and also in several other areas as a country in the past several years due to pollution and poverty, dirty water; there still exists a strong Sierra Leonean people and culture that believe in hope for a brighter future. Problems

Sierra Leone suffers from many environmental problems including deforestation, abjection, and the departure of fertility, a dramatic decline and passing of biodiversity, air toxins, and water pollution. According to (standardtimespress.org) these problems hinder Sierra Leone from progress with regard to economic development. Due to the fact that these issues are not fully understood, many Sierra Leoneans have been delayed in solving the problems. Deforestation according to (standardtimespress.org) is the devastation of clear land for agricultural uses, and shuffling way for expanding settlement frontiers. According to the (United Nations Nutrient) and Agriculture Department Constitution (FAO), forested land was transformed into agricultural land at increasing rates in Sierra Leone from 1981 to the present. African political scientist is trying to address the problem. Sierra Leone government through the ministry of solid ground, country planning, has adopted a policy of planting trees and preserving vegetation that is natural to the provinces. Precisely in June 5th, 2009, the Sierra Leone ministry embarked on planting trees and greening of Freetown project. Degradation according to (standardtimespress.org) is “the temporary deterioration in the density or anatomical structure of vegetation cover, resulting from the removal of plants and trees important in the life cycle of other species, from erosion, and from other adverse changes in the local environment” Degradation is caused by selective hypernyms and by not replanting artificial or regenerating natural wood. The charge per unit of deforestation in the country Is increasing at an alarming rate especially in the Gola Forest in Sierra Leone.

Another vital problem in Sierra Leone is access to clean water. according to (standardtimespress.org) 58.09% of the total population lacks access to clean water to drink. (charitywater.org) says over 90% of people in Sierra Leone don ‘t have access to toilets. One out of every five youngsters in Sierra Leone dies before their fifth birthday. Water is polluted mostly by human waste. Diseases like typhoid, Asiatic cholera, and diarrhea come from contaminated water system. Water pollution is the reason for many infant mortality rates and health problems in Sierra Leone. These diseases are possibly preventable with clean water and good hygiene practices.

A huge problem in Sierra Leone is also poverty. It has affected citizens particularly in the urban part of Sierra Leone. According to (standardtimespress.org) most citizens are negatively impacted by water, and land quality. More than 60 percentage age of Sierra Leone ‘s population presently lives in poverty. Many masses are living under the poverty production line at less than $1.25 per twenty-four hours. The literacy rate is only 41 percent and 70 percent of young people in Sierra Leone is unemployed people. Also, the masses that live in the largest city in Sierra Leone, Freetown are exposed to indoor and outdoor air befoulment that can cause many different health problems. The indoor pollution partly comes from the increased use of wood and charcoal in cooking.

Solutions to The Problem

After talking about all of these serious problems that are going on in Sierra Leone it’s sometimes hard to know what to do. This country has a long way to go before they are in the place they want to be and thriving. They have so, many problems to fix and it almost seems like if you pick one to focus on the other problems just get bigger. I am going you propose two different solutions that I think could drastically help Sierra Leones quality of life and positively change this country for the better. First of the citizens of Sierra Leone need to stop polluting especially in the water and rivers. This seems like a simple problem but it’s not. The citizens of Sierra Leone don’t know where to put their trash, so they just throw it on the ground, ocean, rivers and anywhere else they please. What needs to happen is a movement that provides landfills thought Sierra Leone to be built. This will not only help make their drinking water cleaner to drink but it will also help make the air filled with toxic harmful chemicals that affect the citizens of Sierra Leone on a daily basis improve. By adding these potential landfills, you might kill two birds with one stone. What I mean by this is you’re not only solving the problem of pollution and trash all over Sierra Leone decrease but you will also help there be more drinking water as well. Another positive ripple effect by adding landfills and fixing the pollution is that it will help attract more tourist to come to Sierra Leone as well. The biggest things tourists take always from visiting Sierra Leone over everything is that there is too much trash and pollution. Most importantly the last thing I think Sierra Leone needs to do is ask for help from outside the Country. No matter what problem they will try to fix in the future they cannot do it alone. The citizens in Sierra Leone are very poor and don’t have the money and resources to make a change individually. They need to come together as a family and make a movement that is impossible not to see. They have to look for charities and other people from outside the country to help.
