Evolution is a way that scientists believe the world was created and became what it is today. Human evolution is the process of change by which people originated from apelike ancestors. Scientific evidence suggests that the behavioural and physical traits of people originated from apelike relatives and started evolving from over a period of approximately about 6 million years ago. The creation story suggests that there is a designer (God) and that He created the world over 6 days. Creation also says, “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful,

I know that full well.” The Creation story suggests that we are who we are and have specific traits from our parents, we look, act and have specific personality traits from his intelligent design and the way he designed us.

One common trait that defines humans is bipedalism. Bipedalism is the ability to walk on two legs – monkeys share this trait too, this trait evolved over 4 million years ago. Other characteristics important to humans like a complex brain and the ability to connect actions to thoughts have developed more recently. Humans are primates and that’s a fact. Humans (homo sapiens) have very similar characteristics to apes. Human and the great apes both share a common ancestor that lived between 6 and 8 million years ago. Evidence shows that humans first evolved in Africa as well as most of human evolution.

The scientific study of human evolution is palaeoanthropology. It is a specialised area of anthropology which is the study of biology, society and human culture. This area of study involves a solid understanding in the similarities and differences of human and animal species in the form of their genes, body behaviour and body shape and construction. Evolution takes place when there is a change in the genetic material of an organism, this may be by insertion, deletion or substitution.

Scientists believe that human evolution came from the world beginning from The Big Bang. Evolutionary scientists believe that the universe came about 13.8 billion years ago from an incredibly dense hot primordial fireball that slowly became the world that we live on today. According to The Big Bang Theory, the process from the hot primordial fireball to present-day world involved several stages linked to the temperature of the universe at a time. From about 3,000 years after The Big Bang, the density of the radiation on earth at the time was greater than the density of matter. In an expanding world the radiation density falls faster than the matter density and the universe became matter-dominated. The temperature of the earth continued to drop and after about 3,000 years the temperature reached its lowest point at below 3,000 Kelvin. At this temperature the protons from the fireball no longer had energy significant enough to stop the electrons and the atomic nuclei from binding and making hydrogen and helium atoms. Since the beginning process of recombination, astronomical structures like stars, planets and galaxies have formed.

At the start of the Bible it begins with the words, “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” We learn from the beginning that the earth was formless, empty, dark and that Gods spirit is going to bring life to a lifeless world. There were seven days of Gods creation, no one knows whether these days are literal days or periods of time because there was no sense of time at the time of creation.

The seven days of creation go as follows:

  • Day 1 – And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. He separated light from darkness, he called the light ‘day’ and the darkness ‘night’. There was evening and there was morning – the first day. (Genesis 1:1- 5)
  • Day 2 – And God said, “Let there be a vault between the waters to separate water from water.” So, God made the vault and separated the water under the vault from the water above it. And it was so. God called the vault ‘sky’. And there was evening and there was morning – the second day. (Genesis 1:6 – 8)
  • Day 3 – And God said, “Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear.” And it was so. God called the dry ground ‘land’, and the gathered waters he called ‘seas’. And God saw that it was good. Then He also said, “Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds.” And it was so. The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening, and there was morning – the third day. (Genesis 1:9 – 13)
  • Day 4 – And God said, “Let there be lights in the vault of the sky to separate the day from the night and let them serve as signs to mark sacred times, and days and years, and let them be lights in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth.” And it was so. God made two great lights—the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars. God set them in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth, to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the fourth day. (Genesis 1:14- 19)
  • Day 5 – And God said, “Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the vault of the sky.” So, God created the great creatures of the sea and every living thing with which the water teems and that moves about in it, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the fifth day. (Genesis 1:20-23)
  • Day 6 – And God said, “Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: the livestock, the creatures that move along the ground, and the wild animals, each according to its kind.” And it was so. God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” So, God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.” Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move along the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food.” And it was so. God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day. (Genesis 24- 31)
  • Day 7 – God had finished his work on the creation and rested on the seventh day, blessing it and making it holy being called the Sabbath.

The question that many creationists have toward the idea of evolution is how can you have a complexly designed world with no designer behind it? How can the world go from many hydrogen atoms to overtime become complex earth with water, land, light and dark, warmth and such beauty, can such a design really come from just atoms, or is there a designer who designed the it? Here’s a comparison: When a book is published do the words and illustrations just fall onto the pages and manage to write a cleverly thought-through story without an author and illustrator, or is there an always an author and illustrator behind a book? The answer is that every book has a designer (author and illustrator) so isn’t it the same for earth, earth must have a designer? When you consider the world around us, do you see randomness or design it can’t be both?

Evolutionary thinkers and creationists both believe on the cold heart fact that mankind was not present to witness the origin of the universe. However, unlike evolutionists, creationists can call upon an eyewitness who has recorded the events of creation. In fact, this is stronger than any other eyewitness account than any other, it is a willing confession by a holy God whose testimony is infallible.

Scientific evidence also does point toward and confirm that the biblical record is historically accurate right from the beginning. Richard Arthur said this comment ‘As a Christian I will say this: My faith does not require me to believe in the age of the earth as outlined in the Bible. Christ commanded me to love and that is where all Christians need to focus. Discussing how many fairies can dance on the head of a pin is a distraction.’ (Chappell, n.d.) This comment followed Richard Arthur’s. ‘[As] a Christian, it’s always amazed me how much other people of faith struggle with this. The bible is written in parables. P A R A B L E S. How about this: evolution exists, it’s undeniable, plain and simple. How can your faith lead you to believe that God created everything in the universe… but yet, you can’t believe that perhaps evolution was how He did it?’ Creation is the only understandable idea of creation, evolution just does not make sense and add up. Most scientists are led to just accept the idea of evolution and therefore try and find evidence and support the whole idea otherwise they will look like a bad scientists for not believing in scientific fact according to scientists.

The creation and evolution story conflict each other a lot. The creation story is a day-by-day description of creation and the evolution story is millions of years of the earth slowly changing. The creation story is the only one that adds up. The world cannot just bang and appear like evolutionists believe, the world has a designer and only creation points toward this. Creation is how the world came to be the only questions that remain are how long were the days of creation one literal day of 24 hours or a time period of over a couple weeks, months or years? Also, many evolutionists will argue that the story of creation is fake because who made God, God made the earth and the six days of creation, but who created God? Was he always there for millions of years then decided to make the earth or was the there then made the earth straight away? These are the questions that need to be answered, everything else points toward a design and ultimately a designer.
