Oprah Winfrey, lots know her as a bright spirted, confident, and fun host of her talk show, they know her as the woman who made America smile with her talk show giving away presents like cars and more. She was a woman that did her thing she was a talk show host acter and Global Icon. Orpah Gail Winfrey was born on January 29th, 1954 now I know you might think that I misspelled her name but her real name is actually Orpah. After people kept mispronouncing it as Oprah the nickname just stuck.

As a child Oprah had a hard life living with her mother, she was often abused she eventually moved to Nashville with her father. To start a new life when it was time for Oprah to go higher in her learning, she went to Tennessee State University. It was there where she began working in television and radio and no one knew where these humble beginnings would take her. One thing many people didn’t know is Oprah Winfrey was fired from her first television job because she was deemed as unfit for TV, she has called it “the 1st and worst failure of my TV career”. Not letting that stop her she continued to work hard at her dreams even though she had heavy competition. Way back in the day one of the Top daytime talk show host was named Phil Donahue. Phil Donahue had it going for him, he had the swagger, and everybody loved this guy but a warm smile and a friendly personality propelled Oprah Winfrey to stardom and fame as her talk show grew in the city of Chicago. Oprah would soon go beyond the city of Chicago, that’s right she was headed to Hollywood. Oprah landed a role in Steven Spielberg’s 1985 film “The Color Purple” she was nominated for an Academy Award for best supporting actress. Now if you thought that was something Oprah also helped out in the world of politics. She helped to push a law and get it signed by President Bill Clinton. She also helped create a database for child abusers letting the world know who they were in giving parents, teachers, and others the knowledge of who was a friend and who was not to protect their children. Wanting many around the country to pick up books and read, in 1996 Oprah Winfrey started her Oprah book club. Yes, it was her dream to encourage others to read but when Oprah does something, she does it big. Her book club selections have produced many bestsellers through the years and is still famous around the country today. Another success in the world of publishing came from her O magazine touching on many different subjects O magazine would capture its readers with fashion, lifestyle tips, and more. In 2011 Oprah Winfrey ended her program with ABC but it wasn’t long after that that miss Oprah had another trick up her sleeve. She was planning to own her own and yes, I meant that literally Oprah launched the “Oprah Winfrey network with discovery communications”. Some of her accomplishments also include starting oxygen media, her production company “Harpo productions”, winning 17 daytime Emmy Awards, and giving millions to charity, and much more. From 1986 to 2011 Oprah Winfrey ruled daytime television. Her endeavors in the world of business and willingness to give around the world always gave Oprah the honor of being a leader in the African American community.
