Mothers and Their Love: Critical Analysis

Is sacrifice horrifying, or awe-inspiring? For some, I know, it may seem chilling, people giving up what they love most, but there is more to the story. Sacrifice is someone giving up something, for someone. And observing a person sacrificing something sacred for a loved one, a friend, or even a stranger, is nothing short of magical. It is it’s own kind of beauty.For now, let me talk about my mother. She loves reading, running, exploring, and any kind of learning. But she also loves creating. She crochets, she sews, she enjoys all sorts of crafts. She giggles at cat videos. However, this isn’t some fairy tale. This is a story of sacrifice.My mother works four jobs. She usually ends up doing the majority of the chores around the house. She regularly checks on all of her kids, even though all but my brother and I have moved out. She makes sure I get up in the morning, that our pets are fed, that I have something to eat. If anyone is having trouble imagining what her life is like, just understand that all those hobbies, all those childish giggles, are shoved into the corner until her handful of free time emerges. Some may think she would be bitter about this, but that isn’t how it is at all.

During her teaspoon of free time, my mother looks to help others. Sometimes, that is in the form of learning in order to teach kids better as part of her job as a para. Other times, she works concessions for my class or prom lock-in. She supervises my class trips. She takes watches my brother’s football games. She takes time off work to come to my concerts. And she does all of this with a smile.

Sacrifice is such a heart-warming thing. It can be painful at times, like waking up a four a.m. to get a child ready for a competition, but it is also beautiful, like watching said child squeal with joy when they find their
