Throughout our history, there have been multiple cases of discrimination hate crimes against the African American community that can date back from slavery to present day America. A handful of these events sparked a movement that helped bring awareness and work toward progress to bring total equality for all people.

Emmett Till Born on July 25, 1941 in Chicago, illinois and who was a victim of a hate crime and brutally beat to the death for allegedly flirting with a white woman four days earlier.the white woman’s husband and her brother made Emmett carry a 75-pound cotton-gin fan to the bank of the Tallahatchie River and ordered him to take off his clothes then later they nearly beat him to death and gouged his eyes out. Emmett was raised up north were there were little to no segregated schools. he was not prepared for the level of segregation he encountered in Mississippi.When he visited Mississippi he friends Allegedly dared him to flirt with the whites women who was the store clerk also known as Carolyn Bryan, She told her brother and brother in law that Emmet physical Touched her inappropriately which later led to his brutal death, a few years later she confessed and told the media that she made false accusations and tampered with what actually happened later she would lose her own son.

Rodney King Born in Sacramento, California, on April 2, 1965, Mr.King was caught by the Los Angeles police after a high-speed in 1991. The officers later pulled him out of the car and beat him brutally and unconditionally until her was Unconscious while amateur cameraman George Holliday caught it all on videotape. The four L.A.P.D. officers involved had charges of assault with a deadly weapon and excessive use of force by a police officer. However, after a three month trial, a predominantly (mostly)white jury acquitted the officers involved in the hateful act this would later put rage in the communities in Los Angeles and start Barbaric And dangerous Rights. This continues to happy in this decade we live in police continue to kill unarmed blacks and use brutal force when none is need this why I believe these victims we portray should be on Mount Rushmore they stood up when the society held them down.

James Chaney was a dedicated civil rights activist. He was a member of many groups such as the Congress of Racial Equality (CORE), Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC), and the Council of Federated Organizations which were in place to start a huge voters registration and desegregation campaign in Mississippi. During Freedom Summer of 1964, Chaney worked on an interracial group that aimed to organize a community center to register African Americans to vote. While with his team, they were detained by the police. Nearly a month later, all three of their bodies were found dead earthen dam.

Medgar Evers had become a very powerful leader in his community. He fought in WWII, and he became the first state field secretary of the NAACP in Mississippi. Medgar strove for the prosperity of the African American community. He organized voter registration efforts and he made it his duty to bring justice to African Americans by investigating crimes perpetrated against them. On June 12, 1963 Medgar was shot in his back getting out of his car at his home by Ku Klux Klansman Byron De La Beckwith Jr. Medgar’s murderer was trialed twice by all-white juries and was never reached a verdict. His murderer wasn’t punished for the crime for 30+ years! Byron was finally convicted and received a life sentence on February 5, 1994.

These fellow African-Americans men who were abused and killed by the people who we think to protect us the police and White Supremus. Police continue to kill unarmed blacks and use brutal force when none is need this why I believe these victims we portray should be on Mount Rushmore they stood up when the society held them down. These African Americans individuals all faced some type of adversity and stood tall while everyone belittle them and their beliefs None of these actions are okay.
