Personally, world literature would teach me other’s cultural values. From experience, I’ve witnessed judgment on other’s cultural. Reading world literature would stop stereotyping, or false accusations. Personally, I despise stereotyping and closed-mindedness and would like to prevent that for myself. For example, In the Ted Talk Video, “The Danger of a Single Story” the Storyteller states “She asked if she could listen to what she called my “tribal music,” and was consequently very disappointed when I produced my tape of Mariah Carey” (Adichie). I want to be more open to other cultural values, and influence others to accept individuals cultures. In conclusion, society will begin to be more open-minded to world literature stories. Grasping the full understanding of world literature. Including myself, will begin accepting the nature of what world literature provides, experience. Experience people’s story, and emotional connections. From experience, I’ve witnessed brutal stereotyping while playing online video games. It’s bothersome to hear every five seconds on a game. Reading world literature could prevent more of these situations from happening. Studying world literature could prevent close-mindedness of individuals.
