Domestic Violence In Australia is a indicator of sexism and is a social sin towards any Catholic Church because it’s the main sin that they are against because they want everyone to be equal and not have a bias society. The U.S. conference of the Catholic Bishops has said in 2002, “As the pastors of the Catholic Church in the United States , we state as evidently and powerfully as we can that domestic violence against women, inside or outside of a home, is certainly not acceptable” this means that women should be able to feel safe in a relationship with a partner and not feel unsafe or intimidated by him/her.

The Nature of Domestic Violence in Australia

The Nature of Violence in Australia is because of the past that the person has experienced or been through, this abusive and harmful is triggered by alcohol and drug use to release stress, depression and suicidal thoughts about themselves, which can lead to them abusing their partner physically, verbally and mentally. This can negatively affect the partner because of the abuse and mistreatment that causes them to act un-natural or different to other people and results in bad wellbeing. This can negatively affect the society because of the behavior’s that are inflicted into their personal life because of the abuse. A readers response to the nature of Domestic violence would be to seek help or find new solutions to these problems to support other people who are in a similar situation and help them work on their wellbeing if they have been affected by this.

The approximate amount of cases that were unreported was around 70,000 – 71,000 unreported occurrences between 2013 and 2015 and has had an increase of 8.8% from 2013-14 to 2014-15. This issue focuses on the key triggers and works on ways that it can be prevented to keep young or middle age lives safe from abuse. The cases that go unreported can affect that persons wellbeing because they haven’t asked for help and it makes it harder for the person because they don’t know what to do. A readers response to this social issue is to get help earlier instead of later so that having assistance earlier you have prevented yourself from being affected by this and can help others who are in a similar situation. Most unreported cases are from men because stereotypes say men are bigger and stronger and shouldn’t be able to be physically or verbally abused by a women because they aren’t as big or strong as men which is why they are unreported because of the shame that men would or will get.

Cultural Acceptance is a big Nature of Domestic violence, this means that the family has to accept who it is. Their own cultural context, and a mix of cultural and social factors within Australia, make culturally diverse women particularly vulnerable to violence because of them being unaware or defenceless towards their partner. These factors also make it more problematic for them to get help and support. This also can lead to bad personal and life skills like communication and socialising because of the traumatic experience that they had to deal with. This cultural acceptance is a big factor in why most young girls get abused because there parents/guardians do not agree with who they are choosing to be with and can end up abused because of it. A readers response would be to seek help so that you aren’t abused for who you pick to be with and seeking help will also benefit others because you can give them advise on what to do in a situation for where you can pick who or what you want to do.

Misogyny is a nature of dislike of, hatred for or ingrained prejudice that is against women, misogyny is the Catholic Churches original sin because of the outcomes that put women through because of the abuse that they have to deal with. This is what brings women stress levels and depression leading to bad health and social skills for them because of the traumatic experience.
