Throughout all fields of a community both immediate and long-term positive healthcare impacts can be brought about by such a purposeful and versatile vocation, What I love most, however, is the cohesion of a scientific focus with a philanthropic heart; ultimately drawing me to pursue a career in it. I was fortunate enough to gain first-hand experience through my work experience enabling me to gain a deeper insight into the magnitude of the positive effect it has on patients, reinforcing my decision to pursue a career in this field of health care. My approach is to regard myself as always, a student; constantly learning and keeping abreast of the latest developments. I cannot picture any greater satisfaction than to use my knowledge and skills to alleviate others of their distress and suffering.

During the course of my shadowing placement at a private dental practice, I observed a crown restoration treatment where I was able to appreciate the use of advanced instruments and components that integrate aesthetic and practical versatility without compromising patient welfare. The need for effective time management was illustrated by extensive patient lists, a crucial aspect in such fast-paced setting.

Moreover, discussions with my own dentist taught me that these factors shape cutting-edge health care. Through this procedure and having gone through an orthodontic treatment myself the excessive degree of manual dexterity and intricate work displayed is vital, especially having to work to manipulate tools in small sensitive areas. Prior experience playing the piano has provided me with the self-belief to practice such skill. In addition, taking part in a St Johns first aid course has enriched me with a greater understanding of how crucial of a part precision plays in all aspects.

Having Family members within the health care sector enabled a broadened understanding of the NHS, learning about its financial framework and the importance of annual objectives.

I have been proactive in organising multiple fundraising events, including working with organisations such as WaterAid, this required me to take lead on particular elements. Feeling a duty to ensure the cause and outcome of donating were clearly established to those contributing similarly, mirroring the concept of consent. Formerly setting up my own campaign ‘This is Adam’ to raise awareness for an individual with quadriplegic cerebral palsy has shaped me profoundly both emotionally and mentally, demands were undoubtedly challenging and exhausting nonetheless it instilled in me a resolute desire to want to make a difference and hence embark on this rewarding and intellectually fulfilling vocation. Working within a team provided me with the confidence to conduct executive yet supportive decisions wherein at instances I was faced with unexpected situations, demonstrating to me that the attributes I’ve acquired are transferrable to this line of work.

I acknowledge my career choice can present challenges but ultimately, I believe my dedication, academic resilience, hard work and keenness will well equip me to rise above these, enabling me to strive to be successful in my line of work.
