The purpose of this essay is to analyze the nursing industry. This essay will discuss the structure, role, function, and as well as other key regulatory bodies related to nursing in Australia. This will include, nurses and the Australian health practitioner Agency (AHPRA), the nursing and midwifery board of Australia, and the Australian nursing and midwifery Accreditation council. This essay will also discuss other significant peak bodies related to nursing. It will also talk about the skills, qualities, attitudes, and knowledge that are required to become successful in nursing. In addition, the essay will discuss the code of conduct and the significance of competency standards. Furthermore, it will identify past experiences and discuss the strength and weaknesses and how they will impact on becoming a successful nurse.

The role of AHPRA is to support the 15 national boards that are responsible for regulating health professionals. The national board also protects the public by enforcing the standards of practice and policy guards within the nursing industry(Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency,2017). The Australian health practitioner regulation agency organization is responsible for the implementation of national registration accreditation across Australia. The Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council (ANMAC) is responsible for facilitating the development of content for accreditation standards in consultation with stakeholders and representatives from the professions (Australian Nursing And Midwifery,n.d).ANMAC is also responsible for determining whether programs of study for nurses and Midwives seeking to practice in Australia meet the required accreditation standards. Australian Nursing Midwifery Accreditation Council helps protect the health and safety of the community by promoting high-quality standards for nursing and midwifery education.

This includes largely actively listening to the patients and determining theirs needs or concerns.

This extends to having the right attitude, honoring and seeking a person’s perspective, and having a genuine interest in getting to know the patients.

It is also important for nurses to be aware of the way they communicate with patients. As this can have a significant impact on the patients. For example, nurses may speed up communication or use words that a patient may not understand. How we communicate with other people is important as it affects emotions, and as a result, this can affect the choices nurses may make. The nurse is often having to involve in the family member of the patient and the hospital staff, the ability to effectively speak and listen is highly essential. It is a necessity that nurses are able to communicate and collaborate effectively at all times.

One of the greatest barriers in achieving one’s goals is the difficulties in communicating with all various people. This is because of numerous ways that each individual uniquely communicates in different scenarios. Each of these scenarios requires a dynamic way of addressing the situation. Personally, communication skills will play a vital part when entering into the profession. It is important that each individual has the right skills sets and being accountable.

Professional quality is being accountable for one’s actions. For example, having a high degree of professionalism means having responsibility when there is a problem or if the patient did not forget to transmit the operation the professional person will take responsibility and take the action to resolve the issue.

Lastly, a nurse needs a solid framework of ethics so that it can provide guideline, personal growth, and professional conduct. The framework includes communication to the service

decision-making. in order to be an effective decision-maker, it is necessary to identify the problem and understand the extent it might personally affect one’s emotions.

In conclusion, there are many nursing bodies that aim to protect the general public and provide guidelines for the profession as a whole. The AHPRA and nursing Midwifery Australia play a significant part in managing the nursing industry. Also, nurses requires the right skills and characters in order to be successful in the profession. Based on personal experience, there are weak spot that one’s needs to improve on. Such as, in communicating with a diverse people or situations.
