In the famous play “Romeo and Juliet”, the theme was a huge love story yet tragically played out. Another one of William Shakespeare’s famous plays is “Hamlet”. Hamlet was written with many twists and turns. The movie was known to have the best plot of all times based on Shakespeare’s creativity. Hamlet was a normal character in the beginning, but as the play went on Hamlet became more aggressive and power-hungry. Over 350 years after the play was written, producers created the movie the Lion King, which fell within the same storyline as Hamlet. The updated movie created a different experience by creating different ways of entertainment though themes and language. Insanity, humanity, women and political lively-hood are themes that made ‘Hamlet’ one of William Shakespeare’s most famous movies. Even though it was written 400 years ago, it is still famous due to the way it relates to modern-day society.

Another factor that makes Shakespeare’s pertinent to today’s modern time is the language he used in his work. Shakespeare created about 300 words which were later added to the English language. The creation of many different new words added to the dictionary allowed the English language to be as it is today. There is a strong possibility we would be using different words today if not for Shakespeare. In modern times society uses a lot of Shakespeare’s quotes. Shakespeare is known to be the most quoted person in English literature. Many people use quotes and have no idea who created them. Among the most common quotes are: “To be, or not to be: that is the question’ (Hamlet, act 3), “Nothing will come of nothing” (King Lear Act 1), and of course the famous, “Off with his head” (Richard II, Act 3). All of the listed quotes were written in throughout the famous poems created by Shakespeare.
