Chicago Convention

The convention on international civil aviation which is also known as Chicago convention was signed by fifty two states on 7th December 1944. This also established the International civil aviation organization (ICAO). Which a specialized United nation agency looking after the international air travel. The Chicago convention has 19 annexes which contain the standards and recommended practices often known as SARPs. These annexes are amended time to time by ICAO to keep the aviation industry safe.

Annex1is Personal Licensing. It includes licensing of the cabin crew, pilots, aircraft maintenance staff, dispatchers, aeronautical operators and the air traffic controllers. These roles are important as all the staff in this industry has a special role. With each person playing their role with full attention, skills and knowledge. It keeps the functioning of the air transport smooth, safe and secure. To maintain that it is very important that the standard rules of maintenance and recommended practices are met by each and every staff member. Air transport isn’t possible without cabin crew, pilots, ground staff with their skills and essential training.

Annex 1 sets out the standards and recommended practices for the licensing of the flight crew, from pilots, flight engineers, cabin crew, air traffic, controller, air navigators, aeronautical operators, maintenance staff, dispatchers by convention on the international civil aviation.
