Religion plays in important role in peoples lives. Sometimes believing in God is the only way of our personal issues. Keeping faith is key no matter how devastating things can be, rough times are not always bad it helps me become a stronger person. In the book “In the country we love” by Diane Guerrero. Diane is a true soldier. It tells the world the struggles she’s faced having undocumented families living in the United States. By facing hard times she turned to God and prayed that her family will always be together, and become a star.

In chapter 4 titled “ The Good Girl “ Diane expresses her love for God being little she was raised Catholic. Her parents were brought up taking religion very seriously so it was important for them to teach Diane the same. Everything that she feel like she was doing wrong she thought God was going to punish her when she would do something she will take punishment out on herself. Papi, her father Is dedicated To be a citizen. He is scared that they were found out that he is undocumented in the US. Papi takes his efforts into his own hands he has found a lawyer to help him become a US citizen. He is eager so he checks on the process occasionally putting all of his trust into to the lawyer’s hands. Is any lawyer word he tells puppy that everything is going good and that there is nothing to worry about. But Diamme mother is so impatient about the puppies process she wanted things to move quickly but jumping ahead of things isn’t always good mommy put a target on her back. She reached out to an Old lawyer to re-open her immigration file The lawyer told her it will be fine I have to do is update your paperwork. During this time Diane is finding her self she realizes that the American dream isn’t that’s from living in the hood. To give her a sense of encouragement Diane does a science project for the school fair. Science is her weakest subject she proves her hypothesis, her teacher was so proud of her he gave her a high five this really meant a lot to her because her mom helped her with the project but things go downhill. The most terrible thing happened that no child should ever face. Eric her older brother tells her that their mother is gone, an immigration officer came and took her. The mother has been deported back to Columbia. Everyone feel some type of emotion it was life-changing. Know one could keep it clear for Focus on what just happened Papi was mostly devastated his fears worsen. Papi felt hurt because he told Mami that is was a bad idea, to begin with. With Mami being deported it sent Diane to a dark hole, School started to become a blur Eric and Papi. Continuing to fight it made it worse. She just wanted her brother and a dad to just get along and that her mom was still here so they can be a happy family. After getting use to Mami being gone there was hope. God Turn things around somehow Mami came back, but things went left again Mami got deported again. Diane couldn’t believe asking why is this happening why things can’t be okay. Everyone tried to escape the trouble, Papi began to be to be depressed. While her mother was Gone Diane was growing into a young woman, she started puberty. This helped her relationship with her dad blossom they became closer than she was with her mom. After a while, Diane started visiting her mom Doing that interrupted her dads as relationship. From reading this book I experienced Sadness I felt hurt reading the lines. Nobody has really told a true story of immigration. Immigrants lived through the shadows scared wanting to be a US citizen but couldn’t because of money . Low-paying jobs made it really hard for them. They couldn’t really be out there or get high paying job because it would put them on alert. I respect immigrants they are strong people. They have to live in the US undocumented and find way to citizenship. But it all takes time and dedication. I feel like we as Americans should help immigrants become citizens instead of being deported and falling through the cracks. Or being separated from families and friends. Immigrants should have the same equal opportunity as Americans because they work just as hard. We should at least give them a chance. Not all immigrants are bad people it doesn’t hurt to reach out a helping hand.

Keeping your faith helps you get to your triumph times. If you keep your prayers in your heart God will send wonderful things into your life. God throws you the toughest battles but it helps you in the end if you just accept the way things are. That was exactly what happened in this chapter her mom being deported developed a closer relationship with her dad. It has truly made her into a smart, talented woman as she is today.
