Problems Of Racism In Freedom Writer

Freedom Writers Richard La Gravenese (Film) The film is basically about some teenagers in high school. At the start of the year they get a new teacher called Ms G that is trying to get them to pass and to graduate to go to college. At the start of the year the kids were sitting in their own groups. Miss G makes them play a game to try to get them to realise that they’re not different from each other and that they all had some of the same problems.

I thought that Ms G was caring deeply for the kids because she got three jobs two are part-time and one is full time. to pay for the books for the kids because the school won’t give her any because when she asked Miss Campbell she said, “because no one thinks they’re smart enough for real books”. Also, she had taken the whole class on a trip to the holocaust museum to show the kids that other young people across the world also had to face difficult challenges in their lives. After she had taken them to a restaurant to have dinner which she payed for.

La Gravenses had showed how Ms G was caring in the movie, he showed this by when Ms G was talking to her husband and he said, “I’ve heard a lot of hyphenates, but a bra selling, English teacher and a hotel concierge has got to be a new one”. This is how I could tell she’s got three jobs. A scene in this movie that saddened me was when her husband had said “Because I can’t be your wife” he also said, “I’m living a life I didn’t agree to”. By what he said it meant that he wanted to get divorced because he thought that he wasn’t getting as much attention as before she started teaching and she had got two more jobs. But this didn’t stop her from getting her students a better life and the more her dad saw her passion he tried to help and support her.

I thought that the ending was unexpected because I didn’t think that she will be able to teach the kids she had that year because she was told by the school that she couldn’t teach junior or senior kids. She had tried to fight Margaret’s decision with the superintendent which is the board of education person she asked if she’s allowed to teach the juniors, but the superintendent said, “Their reading scores, their writing has markedly improved, Ms Campbell”. After Mr G had said “no” when the kids asked her if she’s going to be their teacher for when they were going into junior and after Mr G said “We’re goanna be together junior and senior year” which meant that the superintendent allowed her to teach the kids. There is a connection to the world, how there is still racism in some places, an example of this is in some states in America. This movie might make others think about how everyone is the same and that race doesn’t make you a different human being also it showed us the bonds between every human race were the same. Also, a poll was made on May 14-21, 2018 and the results were 64% said that a racism in America still remains a major problem.
