Before the advent of Islam, Women in all countries were bound to servitude. If you have a newborn baby girl, chances are the society will burn her alive. Women were considered to be a disgrace to society. If a woman-owned any property, they were authorized to administer her property to any male member of their family. Women were not even allowed to choose their own wedding. Their father or brother will pick a male member for their marriage.

Real liberty is that which emerges from civilization. With the advent of Islam, things change in the whole world. The Prophet of Islam (Peace Be Upon Him) taught people to respect their women.

‘Men shall have the share of that which they have earned, and women a share of that which they have earned.’ (Surah al-Nisa, Ch.4: V.33)

Islam changed the perspective of how society treats women. It gave women the right to inherit effectively and practically. Whether a woman is a sister, mother, daughter or wife, she receives a certain share of her deceased relative property.

In Islam, Allah Almighty clearly gives women a high status and elevates their position in the family. The Holy Quran, also mentions the sacrifice a mother makes while giving birth to a child.

‘Heaven lies under the feet of your mother’, Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

She also has the right to work alongside men and spend the money she earns, as per her wishes. There is no teaching that she should share her money with her husband or any other family member. In terms of marriage, she has the full right to accept or reject a marriage proposal. She cannot be forced to marry anyone against her will if someone forces her to do this, she has the right to seek divorce.

In Islam or any other religion, marriage is based on mutual understanding, compassion, peace, and love.

‘The best of you are those who are best to their wives.’ Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

In many countries, Including Islamic ideals, women still don’t have inheritance rights over their husbands. There are laws based on such topics that change a person’s mindset. In the end, we must share the teaching of Islam. Teach to a non-muslim that Islam is a religion of peace and we are the first nation to introduce rights for women. The Holy Quran is your best guide, it has inspired many generations to uphold the economic and spiritual rights of Women.
