Tradition is the part of the community; it is the body together with our culture synthesized to create a better history as time flies. A tradition for me brings the community its uniqueness where our uniqueness will turn into the symbol of our fellowship. From my perspective, tradition distinguishes us from other nations, and even in every single community has one and so do our own family, clans, and tribes, tradition has always been our guide from the past. My country has been a place where the tradition of the origin has been yearly celebrated in honor of our ethnic tribes who have been taking care of this land with their beautiful practices and beliefs. For more inevitable challenges to come, can we still live on to our traditions?

Seven billion people in the world have been living yet these enormous populations are fluctuating because of these worldwide health problems; pandemic. A disease that can weaken a land and putting our lives into jeopardy. Every need of our people is running out and now we are hiding in our own home, scrolling to our phones, living in a modernized community, and following the trends of the western world. We are now slowly forgetting the presence of tradition.

We used to live practicing our tradition with the community association and to be active with families getting along to each other with the endeavor of prolonging traditions. But the world right now seems to change our way of living and making our life idle upon reviving our common tradition. I now ask myself these questions, how can we preserve our tradition when everything is changing? When our youth is perceiving traditions as outmoded practice?. But I come up with these answers.

Being advanced and modernized community does not mean we are breaking the tradition, knowing that tradition is what makes us who we are because of following the values, have integrity, and keeping our faith to the Almighty then we probably followed our basic tradition. We must always remember that life without tradition is like forgetting our vital history. Without tradition, we won’t be recognized as one and our identity won’t be well known.

If our forefathers did not bravely pass our native language to this generation then we probably have no language to be proud of and instead, we left being dependent on other nations. Without tradition, our existence would be pointless. Tradition will always remind us to continue living life but never forget where you came from. The essence of reconnecting to our family and friends for a stronger community and moral lessons from the past should be taught wisely and shall never be forgotten by our youth who will hold accountable upon leading our generation for the future. Those are the reasons why tradition must be relevant to our life.
