The first person to plant rice in Australia was Jō Takasuka, he planted this rice in south eastern parts of Australia, and he was in parliament in japan. He rented about 35 acres of land from a farmer in Nyah on the Murray River. He planted the first parts of rice in 1906, then in 1914 the Victoria government allowed him 200 acres to continue the growth of his rice in larger quantities. The first few times he planted rice seeds he didn’t produce a commercial drop of rice.

The farming of rice in Australia was more of an economic decision because the Victorian government saw the man struggling to grow rice and when they saw that he was able to grow some even though the climate wasn’t perfect for growing rice they granted him more land to grow rice majority of the rice plantations are located south-east of the centre of Australia so Victoria maybe new south wales. Most of the irrigation from growing the rice is from the Murray River and is supplied by Victoria and New South Wales.

The soil in Ord River Irrigation Areas (ORIA) is the most suitable for growing rice, this area can be found in eastern Victoria and the reason for it being a good place for rice to be grown is because it is easily flooded and the soil is very moist.

The landscape is perfect for the growth of rice because it is very flat and has minimal grass and/or trees, the climate is also pretty good because it is a damp and humid place. The wet clay-like soil is perfect for the growing of rice. The water usage of rice compared to most plants is quite large and is too much for Australia to the sauce without help or ways to purify water from the ocean. There wouldn’t have been much of a consequence to rice farmers in Australia when they exported about 274 million dollars in product.

The advantage of growing rice in Australia is that we would gain more income to the government and the people to that grow the rice but the disadvantage to growing it is that there are very minimal places that it can be grown unlike other places like japan or china where the majority of their diet is eating rice.

I think that we should continue growth on rice because it allows us to sell it to other countries and gain profit but it also allows the people that already live here the capability of being able to eat rice without importing it from another country.

My first point is that with growing rice the seeds are cheap and the seed makes a lot of rice and then if we sell it our country will gain profit and when we are done with the rice seeds they are able to be re-used to grow even more food.

My second point is the people that are from Japan and all the different places that eat rice can keep eating what they ate from when they were at home, and also the people that have never had things from other countries can try things that the furan people can cook and prepare like sushi or even curry.

In conclusion to my argument and my information I think that we should keep growing rice until we are unable, forced to stop for some reason or if we decide to stop because of some other reason, if we do stop how we are able to get rice that is locally (Australian) grown because some people will disagree with buying products that aren’t ozzi but that’s usually because they don’t know where it has been or has come from.
