Imagine being brutally beaten or starved? I doubt you’d like it so why do it to animals?

Animal cruelty, also known as abuse, can come in many forms such as: testing, hoarding, slaughter and neglect. All around the world this goes on and some places don’t even have laws against it! It sickens me to see animals scared of people or bruised and beaten because they haven’t done anything wrong, they didn’t deserve this.

How many products do you use that are tested on anima? Do you know what animals go through to make you look better? Each year more than 100 million animals are killed due to animal testing. Animal testing also known as animal experimentation is the use of non-human animals to test toxic chemicals, drugs, cosmetics, food and medicine before they are safe to use on humans. Animals often used in testing are mice, fish, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, birds, cats, dogs and miniature pigs, they all get poked with needles and force fed chemicals that may lead to mutilation or death. Animals don’t have rights but that doesn’t mean they deserve to live an empty, terrible life.

Each year around 3,500 animal hoarders are brought to the attention of authorities and more than 250,000 animals are affected, eighty percent of animal hoarders have diseased, dying or dead animals in their house. Animal hoarding is keeping excessive numbers of animals as domestic pets in a space without proper care. People hoarding animals don’t think what they are doing is cruel, they think that they’re helping the animals by giving them a home but really they’re blind to the fact that by giving them a home they could actually be endangering them more.

It is estimated that around 72 billion land animals are slaughtered for food every year. Animal slaughter is killing animals, usually domestic livestock for food. Animals commonly slaughtered are cattle, sheep, water buffalo, pigs, goat, poultry, deer, horses and recently fish. I tolerate killing animals for food but I disagree with their methods. After being unloaded the animals are put into a chute and shot in the head with a captive bolt gun, meant to stun them but the majority of the workers are poorly trained and often miss. The law states that all animals must be stunned before having their neck cut but because of the workers incompetents the animal is often in extreme pain before being put out of their misery.

In China there are currently no nationwide laws against the harming or mistreatment of animals. Animal neglect is when someone does not take proper care of an animal so not feeding, cleaning, playing, etc. Animals may not have rights but they do deserve to be loved and cared for properly, it’s not fair that they give us all their love and in return they get starved or sick. How would you feel not having eaten for weeks, kept outside in freezing cold? Neglect is an overlooked form of animal cruelty most people wouldn’t think leaving an animal outside, forgetting to feed them for a few days or not cleaning them is cruel but not washing could lead to disease, not feeding leads to starvation, and leaving them outside they could overheat or get hypothermia. Don’t take them for granted they deserve your love.

Animal cruelty has improved a lot over the years but there’s still a long way to go, but if you believe in something you have to speak up. Hoarding, neglect, testing and slaughter are only a few of the many forms of animal cruelty and one day I hope that we’ll have a cruelty free world where animals don’t end up starved on the side of the road or mutilated from being poked with needles. I scroll through social media and I often see videos of animals afraid to trust or others getting beaten, everytime i see a video like that it makes me sad, mad and confused of how someone could do that. Speak up if you believe anything i’ve just said and we’ll be one step closer to a cruelty free world.
