Throughout recent years of my studies, I have come to realise how engineers play a more vital role than ever before. The amount of ingenuity and creativity they bring to our society is unbelievable. However, my primary interest lies in mechanical engineering because of how broad it is as a discipline and provides opportunities, which has led me to apply for your course. I get invigorated when learning anything that is related to science, then being able to use that knowledge for the benefit of others could not have been a better way to incorporate these components. There are many factors that stimulated my choice of pursuing a career in engineering. How and why certain machines could achieve what they were made to do was a big part of my decision.

My desire of getting to learn the inner complexities and the computing that goes along with producing a machine was very appealing to me. Higher education would allow me to further dive into these questions and would also greatly improve my understanding of this discipline. In order to pursue my curiosity in mechanical engineering, I have read relevant books and articles to specifically learn more about fluid dynamics and thermodynamics. My attendance at Tycho Braheskolan has served me great influence, the majority of my studies were comprised of maths and physics which subsequently led to a more profound understanding of science and how they interrelate. Its appliance in engineering has definitely proved itself as a powerful tool one could use, which to me makes it even more interesting.

The natural science program improved my analytical thinking as well as my abilities to tackle complex problems. To further, understand the characteristics of nanofluids, my classmate and I worked with a project that revolved around Ferrofluid. We analyzed and studied the properties of the fluid and also how a magnetic field could alter its structure. This project showed me the aspects of one could devise experiments to either demonstrate or to make use of the processes that one have learned about. Furthermore, I have worked as an intern with a company named UB Holding in the heavy industry and materials department. The company operates in four different sectors, including the production of bottled mineral water, involvement in the energy and petroleum industry. Through my work experience, I was taught how the machines worked and for an example of how one machine could produce up to 60 000 bottles each day. This gave me an insight into how machinery actually is executed to perform as expected in factories.

Being a basketball player gave me invaluable input on how to work with others as a team, whether it would be on how to communicate or giving each other assessment on how to improve certain areas. These set of skills complement each other very well and as for its application in academia or any engineering course, it may present as very useful resources. My goals are to continue on my academic journey and then being able to work in the engineering sector in the near future. Hence why I find your course in accordance with my interests and competence. – Hani Ismail
