Robots…

These metal beasts have plagued our world for years. Movies for years have depicted robots as heroes and as villains but in a much more technologically advanced way. This is ASIMO currently the most advanced robot in the world, it is capable of walking, climbing stairs, playing soccer and can have simple conversations in three languages. This shows that even the most technologically advanced robot today is still incapable of a multitude of tasks and even with the abilities it has currently its battery lasts only 1 hour. The amount of effort and resources it takes to create a robot like ASIMO is wasteful and ineffective meaning many jobs may be created just to use the robots. Currently, robots are only used to automate jobs that are repetitive and simple and their future looks no different as they will take over accounting industries and as well as many factory jobs. As that happens however the new technology created will continue to grow economies and create many more jobs that it took away.

Robots are already beginning to take jobs that are repetitive tasks that only need one thing to be done, factory workers have been replaced and so have accounting jobs but that still doesn’t steal all future jobs away from people in fact PWC (second largest professional services firm in the world) predicted that robots will create more jobs than displace them in the next 20 years, this prediction came from a company that is an accounting firm a firm with which works with one of the jobs most threatened by robots. Even jobs that are definitely replaceable by robots are still going to hold human employees. Factory workers, however, will be replaced but this will also create jobs for people to run manufacturing companies, as well as new equipment costs, which can be cheaper for jobs that require different things that could be hard to make by hand. Robots in the manufacturing part of the world greatly increase the use of the human mind and will make people re-evaluate the choices they made when looking for a career leading to a longer list of jobs that will be created by those people as Dell the computer company has said that 85% of jobs that will exist in 2030 have not been invented yet. The easy way out is no longer an option.

Regardless of the jobs that robots threaten to take someone always has to build them, not only that but program them, this industry of programming robots is growing even now as the demand for robots in factories and accounting firms, the need for robots is now. The definition of a robot is simply a machine that resembles a human being or is able to replicate certain human movements and functions automatically. This definition tells us that robots are basically metal humans, there are tasks that need to be for filled by metal humans like tasks that involve dangerous activity in which humans can not partake in as they could die, robots could do that for us, this could lead to the discovery of new metals or elements as we could dig deeper into the planet or swim deeper into the ocean. The scary robot apocalypse will not take all of our jobs but make there own in which only they can conduct. Perfect examples of these things are bomb diffusion robots as they are used to diffuse bombs without the risk of human death.

As robots progress further into the workplace human-robot interactions will become common. Robots have already begun human interactions in the workplace, and this could create jobs supporting the issues faced between people and robots. This could lead to an all-new skill set which again could bring bout new jobs in human-robot relations.

The future of robots does still pose a threat to many jobs. Factory workers and people that work jobs of repetition are constantly being replaced, accounting firms are using robots to calculate things for them resulting in even more job lose and soon robots will have the ability to complete the same tasks as humans physically resulting in many more jobs being replaced. Take farming for example, robots could work at a much more efficient rate at raising the animals as no break would be needed and the robot would also not suffer from any injuries that could cause the to stop working and result in a lower food supply, this also applies to droughts as although cows need a lot of water it would still reduce the amount needed if there were no humans using it as well. Although that is the case the robots would still need human supervision as the would need supplies as well as being able to charge if the run out of power away from a charging station.

Robots although a scary future will most likely never take our jobs people have made movies about robots taking over and if the human race thinks just a little before giving sentience to a robot then the world will live on fine. Robots although they will take a couple of jobs the surplus of new things that they will be capable of finding and creating which will result in a world where people may work with robots and explore things, they never knew existed thanks to a metal machine. These mechanical beasts are not the end of humanity but the start of something new.
