“Give a girl the right pair of shoes and she’ll conquer the world.”

Marilyn Monroe had grown up in a very rough background, spending most of her younger years in foster homes and orphanages after her own mother couldn’t take proper care of her. Due to this she ended up back in foster care and by age 7 had been sexually assaulted on several occasions as well as being raped when she was 11 years old. Despite the fact her childhood was one of the most traumatic experiences she went through, she still managed to pick her career up and start a new life as Marilyn Monroe. Although she came from a rough background, Marilyn had made it her goal to become a famous star, and that dream was became true when she started her modelling career but later she became better known role of Blonde Bombshell in the late 1950’s to early 1960’s. Due to her popularity she grabbed the attention of many men, including John F. Kennedy himself, the current time president of the USA, which is what made her controversial due to having a relationship of sexual nature with the president John. F. Kennedy, despite him being married to the first lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, who was very well aware of the affair her husband was having with the actress. While many hated Marilyn, more loved her as she was the epitome of perfect, of beauty, of what every woman wanted to be and envied, regardless of her actions.

Marilyn Monroe held herself of a high standard, she believed herself to be a strong woman, wise and funny because unlike many of the women of her time, she was well respected not only because popularity but because she was able to build her entire life from the ground up after having such a rocky start. In the period of time that she had been alive, her career was one of rarity due to the common belief and treatment of women, that they had no other use than sex, child bearing and cleaning and she broke that by becoming one of the first very famous women of her time. She rocked the world of that time when she rose to fame and defied all the common beliefs and stereotypes that held women back, and she refused to be bullied and belittled by the men who believed she would not be able to continue with her career solely based upon the fact she was a female working in a man’s world.

“Being a sex symbol is a heavy load to carry, especially when one is tired, hurt and bewildered” While Marilyn Monroe was commonly known as a symbol for sex, she was also known as the woman who began the crumble of the worlds point of view on women, she is what some people would call the first feminist of her time. Through all the hard work Marilyn had done and put in throughout her life, she built herself an empire and she built herself a name with very little help apart from those around her who only viewed her as a sexual object, who was kidding herself around if she tried to make a career when most believed she should’ve been a housewife and nothing more. Regardless of the fact those around her didn’t believe, she believed in herself so strongly that she could become what she wanted, she dreamed of this as a young girl and she worked hard to reach it, and so she did.

Although despite her large success in life, Marilyn struggled with depression and suicidal thoughts, and had sadly took her own life at the age of 36, and she had been found overdosed with a bottle of sleeping pills next to her bed by her housekeeper and her companion Mrs. Eunice Murray. “Nothing’s ever easy when you go on living” Even though its been over 50 years since the death of this controversial bombshell, her name is still echoed across the world as a beautiful woman and the woman who slept with the president.
