The Indigenous Arts Festival In The City Of Toronto

The Indigenous Arts Festival is presented by the City of Toronto, by the Friends of Fort York and Mississauga, the Indigenous Arts Festival will celebrate the best in indigenous culture. This will energized me by music, dance, food film, and knowledge-sharing. This festival is an opportunity to celebrate traditional and Indigenous culture, from music and dance to theatre, film, crafts, and food. This festival runs from Friday, June 21 to Sunday, June 23. In the Festival there is a celebration with a performance on the Garrison Common Main Stage and there are also daytime shops that are both educational and interactive . Included in the weekend programming is the Na-Me-Res Annual Traditional Pow Wow on June 23, in which there are more than 100 drummers have participated and dancers from across the Province. For the first time, The annual indigenous arts festival celebration terminates with the free concert at Yonge and Dundas Square. This is my first time that I visit Indigenous Arts Festival and my first experience at that festival is really awesome as I visit there for the project that I received from my College from my teacher I visit there with my classmates and we have lots of fun there and we enjoyed a lot and we saw the dance that they performed there and I like their clothes most. There are also shops that represent their culture and art. So the first impression of the Indigenous Arts Festival is wonderful. There are some activities that are performed there in Indigenous Arts Festival like this year, Fort York hosts the Indigenous Day Live concert and broadcast, as well as Na-Me-Res Annual Traditional Pow Wow on Saturday, June 23. There is also Red Ride Tour performance on Sunday, June 24 on the main stage The traditional drumming, dancing, and storytelling also offered to school students of all ages on June 21 and 22 on Indigenous Education days. There is an importance of this festival as this festival is celebrated each year because the Indigenous Arts festival energizes Fort York with the powerful traditions and compelling contemporary creations by the Indigenous Artists. Actually, this is an opportunity to celebrate the significant contribution of 35,000 Canadians who live in Toronto onwards. Fort York National Historic site is one of the famous historical museums of Toronto Fort York is also a location as Toronto was founded as an Urban Place, located in the heart of downtown of Toronto. I also interact with two different people and I told them that I am a student of the Tourism Program and I get an assignment from my teacher on Indigenous Arts Festival and my teacher told me to gather information on that Festival. I ask them that from where they are one of them is from Toronto and one is from Mississauga. They said the Festival attracts them to visit there, the activities that are performed in the festival. Indigenous people are also known as First people and they are also ethnic groups who are the settlers of given regions. indigenous peoples are the group of peoples who are fall under one of the internationally recognized definitions of Indigenous peoples, for example, the United Nations, the International Labor organization and the world bank. I enjoy the dance most in the festival the dressing sense of the people who performed the dance and there are lots of people who play the drums, I think there are more than 100 people who performed in that activity. They look very nice when they dance and one more thing when they had with their performance I asked them for the pictures and they said yes for that I post the pictures at the end of the project at the last page.

The Advantages Of Indigenous Arts Festival

The program supports indigenous artists to research. It develops and creates new work and it also engages with their communities, as well as opportunities for indigenous organizations and communities to strengthen their relationships with the arts. There are two categories: Individuals and Organizations.

Disadvantages Of Indigenous Arts Festival

According to my research, I did not get any disadvantages of the Indigenous Arts Festival. As Canada is known as a multicultural society. There is a Lakeshore near Fort York so after gathering the information about the Festival we went there and we saw that there were lots of people who belong to different communities and cultures like there were Chinese people, Canadian people, Indian people and the Philippines. Either they belong to different communities but they enjoy together and also take part in the activities that are performed in the Indigenous Arts Festival. I did not saw any differentiation between the Canadian and Indigenous Cultures as they are doing everything the same. If we are looking at the information about Canada so we come to know that Canada is a country in the northern part of North America. Canada has 10 provinces and 3 territories. Canada is the second-largest country as it has 9.98 million square kilometers by the total area. It’s the southern border is with the United States. Canada’s capital is Ottawa and its three largest metropolitan areas are Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver. A developed country, Canada has the sixteenth highest nominal per capita income globally as well as the twelfth highest ranking in the Human Development Index. The economy of Canada is the world’s tenth largest. Canada has a well-developed media sector and its cultural output particularly in English Films, Television shows, and magazines is often overshadowed by imports from the United States. The preservation of distinctly Canadian culture is supported by federal government programs, laws and institutions such as the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, the National Film Board of Canada and the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commissions. Canada’s national symbols are influenced by natural, historical, and indigenous sources. The use of the maple leaf as a Canadian symbol dates to the early 18th century. The Maple leaf is depicted on Canada’s current and previous flags and on the Arms of Canada. Canadian Literature is often divided into French and English language literature, which are rooted in the literary traditions of France and Britain respectively. The Canadian music industry is the sixth-largest in the world. Multiculturalism exists when people accept and encourage many cultures to thrive in society. Canada is officially becoming a multicultural society in 1971 when the Government began to recognize the value and dignity of Canadians of all colors and ethnic groups, all languages, and all religions, A lot of people don’t understand the meaning of multiculturalism itself and what it means for Canada to be a multicultural country. Multiculturalism can lead to many great outcomes, including racial and ethnic harmony, which simply means that people from different backgrounds get along well together. A policy of multiculturalism was officially adopted by the Government of Canada (under Trudeau) during the 1970s and 1980s. As we all know that Canada is a multicultural society because different types of people are living in Canada who belongs to different religion, different community, different culture but still they are living together in the same society without any racism pr differentiation. even though they support each other in every suspect of life. every person has different values and beliefs. There are more than 60 Aboriginal languages spoken across the country ranging from Algonquin Cree to Inuit. English and French are both official languages and many Canadians are bilingual. Canada has a large and diverse ethnic population spread across the nation so that there are significant variations of traditional meals and foods. popular foods in Canada include: ‘poutine’ which originates from Quebec and consists of French fries and cheese topped with brown gravy, Canadian ‘pea meal’ bacon which comes from the loin of pork and has been brined and rolled in cornmeal. Canada is made up of a broad variety of ethnic groups as each has its own religious and cultural customs: weddings, birthdays, and life events. but every person shares their values and beliefs with each other by getting the knowledge about others traditions and cultures.

Colonization And Immigration

Colonization and immigration shaped Canada and continues to shape Canadian Culture. Over the past 200 years, many newcomers have helped to build and defend this country’s way of life. Today, many ethnic and religious groups live and work in peace as proud Canadians. Until the 1970s, most immigrants came from European countries. The majority have come from Asian countries. The process is done by submitting an online profile to the Express Entry pool, under one of 3 federal Canada immigration programs or a provincial immigration program. Globalization is a process of integration and interdependence of people and countries around the world. First nations were the First inhabitants of Canada. The newcomers who came from Europe destroyed their way of life. Many First Nations people died due to European diseases such as smallpox. European colonization destroyed their way of life and caused anger and resentment that still exists today. In Canada the Colonization is starting in the late 15th century, French and expeditions explored colonized, and fought in various places within North America The colony of Canada was claimed in 1534 with permanent settlements beginning in 1608. Immigration also shaped Canada as there are many types of immigration for example, spouse case, visitors, work permit, superior, study visa, etc. In a family case, under a government program, both citizens and permanent residents can sponsor family members to immigrate to Canada. In Refugee Case, under Canadian nationality law an immigrant can apply for citizenship after living in Canada for 1095 days in any 5 year period provided that they lived in Canada as a permanent resident for at least two of those years. But the majority is about student cases as there are lots of students who immigrated from India, China, Korea, Srilanka, Pakistan, etc. Once you become a Permanent resident of Canada and you resided in Canada for the required number of Days, you may be eligible to apply for Canadian citizenship. Your days of physical presence in Canada must be clear and not subject to confusion.
